Charity cyclists raise more than £1,000 for Parkinson’s research
Members of the Llandudno and District Parkinson’s Support Group have raised more than £1,000 to support research into the degenerative disease during Parkinson’s Awareness Week.
More than 30 people, including patients with Parkinson’s, their carers, friends, relatives, and members of Llandudno Hospital staff cycled for 10 minutes at a time on an exercise bike, clocking up 200 miles between them and sponsorship worth more than £1,000.
The cyclists ranged from consultant physician for care of the elderly and movement disorders at Llandudno Hospital, Dr John Hindle, to 12-year-old Chelsea Woodyatt-Harrison, whose great grandmother is a member of the support group.
The fundraisers also sold raffle tickets to generate a further £200, and another £100 was collected by inviting people to “Pick up a pen for Parkinson’s” in exchange for a donation.
The support group, based in Llandudno Junction, is open to new members. For more information e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01492 533459 or 01492 622420.
