LAUGHTER ON WAY WITH COMEDY CLUB’S RETURN
BIG laughs will be back in Llanelli this weekend as the monthly comedy club at Ffwrnes returns.
On Friday the theatre’s Stiwdio Stepni will again transform into a “relaxing cabaret hotspot” for the club, which sees some of the hottest up-and-coming comedians on the circuit.
Headlining this Friday’s event is Pontardawe-based comedian Noel James — a seasoned pro on the comedy circuit, with 20 years experience.
Joining Noel on the evening will be another regular comedian, Juice Comedy Award winner, Kiri Pritchard-McLean.
Noel said he was looking forward to the intimacy of the studio, which will add to the comedy.
He said: “People describe me as a comedian’s comedian.
“My style is unique, and made up with a bit of wordplay, gags, jokes — all original stuff.
“I am in the mould of Tim Vine and Milton Jones.
“I’m a bit manic, a bit shambolic but it all comes together at the end.”
He said performing in Wales is always a bonus as it gives him more material to work with.
“I like to make some Welsh references in my set,” he said.
“As I am gigging within Wales I will be able to do more humour about Wales and the Welsh, which is something I usually shy away from when I’m gigging in England.
“For example there’s a lot of jokes to be had about West Walians and the fact that they are a bit tight with money!
“Instead of a pound shop in Cardigan they have a £1.20 shop, and that’s true!”
He added: “I am looking forward to it and I hope a good crowd turns up.
“It is important for people not to just stay at home on their sofas — TV is just a box at the end of the day.
“There is more interaction at a live gig and the audience play a big part.”
The evening, which starts at 8pm, will be compered by Jonnie Price.
