2014 Centenary Year
Dylan Marlais Thomas was born on 27 October 1914, at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive in the Uplands area of Swansea.
His short life ended when he died, age 39, in New York on 9th November 1953
In 2014 the world will therefore celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the man who would become English language’s second most quoted writer – Shakespeare being the first.
Nowhere will 2014 be celebrated more than in Swansea and South West Wales and as a local firm the Dylan Thomas Experience welcomes you.
Not yet 40, Dylan sadly passed away in New York City, on 09 November 1953. Therefore 2013 will commemorate the 60th anniversary of Dylan’s untimely death.
On a happier note 2013 also commemorates the 60th anniversary of the first performance of “Under Milk Wood, a Play for Voices” arguably Dylan’s most famous work. Legend has it that Dylan was still revising the script only minutes before curtain up?
On these pages and in the fullness of time we will collate the dates and times of all the important events of 2013 and 2014. You may also want to check out our Links page for details of events
