Tin Shed Experience
Montague House, Clifton Street, SA33 4QG Laugharne, Carmarthenshire
School of Performing Arts, University of Wales Trinity Saint David in collaboration with Tin Shed Experience present “Bags, Tags and Gasmasks” – Evacuees in Laugharne
Final year students of the Trinity St. David’s B.A. Acting and Theatre Design and Production courses have created an engaging piece of site-specific theatre, which takes place at Tin Shed Experience Museum in Laugharne; a study of the evacuee experience. The war years saw many displaced people all over Europe; but even in the United Kingdom, tens of thousands of city children were packed off to a rural environment far from the world they knew.
Using this stimulus as a jumping off point, the students have researched the period and made an immersive piece of theatre, which seeks to enhance the Tin Shed Experience; they have tried to look past “We’ll Meet Again” and examine the complex and sometimes fragile relationships which had to be forged in that most difficult of times.
This wonderful production is scheduled for 7 performances over the course of Monday 27th May to Wednesday 29th May and is priced at £5.00 per person.
Audiences are restricted to 30 people per performance so please ensure you place by booking today!

About the Tin Shed . . . .
Tin Shed’s – ‘Captain Cat’
The Tin Shed’s design of Captain Cat focuses on the tired sea dog’s love of the briney as he is joined by his two, finned friends. The figure is modelled on local Laugharne man, John Bradshaw. John portrays the Captain in the Laugharne Players production of ‘Under Milk Wood’ and was very enthusiastic when approached to model for this figure.
As you will see from the following images, the process of creating the figure takes many different steps in order to bring this well loved character to life.
